We are looking for a qualifying social worker to fill the above-mentioned post in our organisation, with effect from 08 January 2025. The position is for a 12-month contract (with 2 months probation). (Shortlisted candidates should be available for interviews between the 3 rd and 7 th January 2025).
THE CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE A PASSION FOR THE SOCIAL WORK PROFESSION KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD GOVERNANCE IN THE NPO SECTOR.
REQUIREMENTS
• BA Social Work or equivalent;
• Proof of registration with SACSSP;
• Proof of current payment of annual fee;
• Valid driver’s license;
• Not less than two years of work experience in social work (work experience in disability sector will be an added advantage)
• Strong communication, computer literacy and proficiency in the use of computer applications word, excel, email, Internet etc;
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision by the Center Manager;
• Preference will be given to candidates living with a disability;
• A successful candidate will have to apply/submit a police clearance.
DUTIES
Mainly perform the social work duties in line with Daveyton APD, vision and mission amongst others, these include:
• Experience with fieldwork is of key importance, working with stakeholders, funders and government departments;
• Compile Department of Social Development monthly stats on services rendered as per requirement;
• Investigate reported cases in the disability sector and conduct beneficiary’s family visits, assess psychosocial support and counseling, give professional reports – line by line of places and families visited;
• Excellent communication skills and decision-making skills;
• Provide services to families with the core intention to empower in awareness in disability;
• Conduct awareness programs about disability e.g. Schools, Clinics or hospitals etc.

DUTIES
• Supervising and teaching groups of beneficiaries with mild or moderate disabilities;
• Educate beneficiaries on basic subjects and programs (e.g. math, writing, computers studies) to meet each beneficiaries’ learning requirements/capabilities and build individual lesson plans tailored to their specific needs. (Designing Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs));
• Discuss with parents and support staff about important matters that might impede beneficiaries’ progress;
• Assess beneficiaries’ abilities skills and learning requirements and craft teaching plans;
• Adapt learning materials to beneficiaries’ needs;
• Keep track of and reflect on beneficiaries’ progress;
• Monitor beneficiaries’ behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed;
• Find engaging activities to teach skills (e.g. drawing and theatre drama);
• Manage classroom crises and resolve conflict;
• Prepare beneficiaries for learnerships.
• Collaborate with the support staff (e.g. social worker and therapists) to create holistic intervention plans;
• Collaborating with parents and the social worker to track beneficiaries’ progress;
• Compile and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly reports, performance records and evaluations to senior management.

• Identify, review and manage security risks in line with approved security protocols.
• Patrolling premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
• Monitoring and authorising entrance of vehicles or people entering the centre.
• Removing wrongdoers and trespassers from the centre.
• Provide assistance to people in need.
• Respond and report security breaches.
• Assist in the investigation of security breaches.
• Maintain necessary security registers.
• Adhere to Occupational, Health and Safety Act and report deviations to the Centre Manager.

• Experience in managing own debtor’s book and performing full function credit control duties is highly
advantageous (including experience with collecting on corporate and consumer accounts and knowledge of

DUTIES
• Acting as the point of contact between the professional staff, beneficiaries, stakeholders and the public;
• Screening and directing telephone calls and distributing correspondence;
• Providing administrative assistance to the centre manager;
• Attending to rent collection on behalf of the centre (including ensuring timeous collection of rent, reconciling clients’s accounts, resolving tenants’ queries and ensuring that tenants receive monthly invoices and statements);
• Managing the diary of the centre manager and schedule meetings and appointments;
• Making travel arrangements for the centre manager upon request;
• Taking dictations and drafting minutes of Centre Manager and staff meetings;
• Creating, maintaining and updating the database for membership fees and keeping track of non-payments;
• Sourcing and procuring centre supplies;
• Handling and managing service providers and suppliers; and
• Maintaining the office filing system, manually and electronically.

• Ensuring cleanliness of assigned area;

• Refilling and restocking cleaning supplies and toiletries;
• Report cleaning supplies requirements and stock levels to the line manager;
• Comply with laid down policies in the execution of duties and in the general adherence to contractual obligations;
• Refuse removal;
• Maintaining clean ablution facilities;
• Conducting monthly disinfection and deep cleaning;
• Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities;
• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs;
• Work as part of a team and support other members to achieve and maintain high level of cleanliness;
• Adhere and report any Occupational, Health and Safety issues to the Centre Manager/Cleaning Supervisor.

DUTIES
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.);
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers;
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn;
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served;
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen;
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly;
• Check quality of ingredients;
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages;
• Adhere to Occupational, Health and Safety regulations and standards;
• Report any Occupational, Health and Safety issues to the Centre Manager.
